Start with the basics
What ibogaine is, and what a clinic should be prepared to manage
Ibogaine is an indole alkaloid derived from the root bark of the Tabernanthe iboga plant, native to Central West Africa. In Gabon and elsewhere in Africa, the natural substance has a long cultural history; its psychoactive properties and alkaloids have also drawn attention in addiction treatment.
Ibogaine treatment is often sought for opioid addiction, drug addiction, alcohol use, and other substance abuse concerns. It is not conventional detox, and it is not a low-risk shortcut. A clinic may describe ibogaine treatment as a transformational experience, but patient safety has to come first.
For a broad comparison of treatment settings, ibogaine treatment clinic options can be a useful starting point, provided every claim is checked against the clinic’s own screening and emergency procedures.
